Video Surveillance Coordinator

Basic Function
Responsible for monitoring and retrieving video surveillance footage to support investigations, maintain security, and ensure the safety of the organization. Responsible for video equipment updates and for the day-to-day video management, ensuring videos are being properly stored. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Retrieves, reviews, and analyzes video footage to assist in investigations or incidents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal requirements.
• Collaborates with MPD and internal stakeholders to provide video evidence and support ongoing investigations.
• Maintains and organizes a comprehensive video library, ensuring proper indexing, storage, and retention of video footage in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Conducts regular system checks to ensure any operational defects encountered due to video pull attempts are promptly reported for timely resolution.
• Identifies and reports any security vulnerabilities or risks, recommending and implementing appropriate measures to enhance security protocols.
• Stays updated on new system functionality, data transfer methods, retention and handling rules and regulations.
• Provides timely and accurate reports related to surveillance activities, incidents, and system performance.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information and ensures compliance with privacy regulations.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Applies SMS methods and principles in their daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or GED, equivalent is required. Additional training or certification in security, law enforcement, or video surveillance systems preferred.
Years & Experience Required
Minimum three (3) years of experience working with video surveillance systems; including cameras, recording devices, and related software. To include managing, indexing, and storing of videos. Experience in a professional business or protective service environment.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Solid understanding of video surveillance equipment, including cameras, recording devices, and related software.
Familiarity with legal and privacy requirements governing the use and retention of video surveillance footage. A strong ability to observe and pay attention to detail. Able to identify relevant information from video footage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient computer skills and the ability to navigate and operate video surveillance software and systems.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours or on-call as required in situations of emergencies or critical incidents.
