Basic Function

Coordinates with state, local, government agencies, private utility companies, real estate acquisition staff, and A&E firms to provide coordination and management of utility relocations through the project lifecycle for all METRO projects.  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Facilitates utility coordination between METRO PEC staff and the utility companies.
  • Facilitates technical work pertaining to identification of conflicts, proposed utility adjustments, relocation, and new utility installations.
  • Assists in collection utility data on specific projects and guides preparation of utility base maps.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost estimates based on material take-offs, market value comparisons, and relocations costs in close coordination with Project Controls. 
  • Requires strong organizational skills, attention to details as well as excellent written and communication skills. Conducts review of utility submittals, including plans specifications, schedule, and budget for design deficiencies and betterments.
  • Facilitates the preparation and review of master, cooperative agreements in coordination with Program Managers and METRO legal.
  • Prepares utility relocation schedules, tracks the installation, removal, adjustments, and/or relocation of utilities for projects in coordination with Program Managers and Resident Engineers and Director of Construction.
  • Reviews and makes payment recommendations on Utility Reimbursement Agreement invoices from Utility Owners
  • Assists in preparing scope of work related to Utility Relocations for PE&C projects.  
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education Requirement

High School or GED required.  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related degree preferred.

Years & Experience Required

Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in scoping, design management, construction planning, and execution of utility relocation on linear and facility projects as owner’s representative or within a contractor organization.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Excellent communication skills.  Time Management skills, and ability to work in a fast-pace environment.
