Senior Operations Management Analyst

Basic Function
Conducts, develops, reviews, and analyzes annual budget and monthly expenses. Performs monthly journal entries and annual year end accruals. Responsible for providing analytical and statistical studies and reports for Operations senior management. Researches and analyzes statistical data, database reports, budget, and variance reports. Performs analytical and statistical studies identifying trends and/or inefficiencies. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Develops, analyzes and prepares the annual Operations Operating budget for assigned divisions. Assists the Manager, Operations Management Support with the annual Operations Capital budget (Capital Improvement five-year plans) and develop budget cashflow.
• Works with Operations Project Manager to monitor and update project activities.
• Monitors and oversees budget and expenditures and analyzes departmental fund centers and general ledger accounts to ensure conformance within budgetary limits.
• Responsible for month-end and year-end closing and prepares journal entries including accrual data for Operations department to provide technical support and oversight of OMS work.
• Submits department requests for shopping carts and purchase order change requests.
• Prepares Budget Change Requests (BCR’s) including cash flow for department as required.
• Provides reports to senior management of assigned divisions and OMS management with financial analyses with recommendations for resolution of financial impact issues.
• Assists and supports the Vice President, Operations Management in day-to-day activities and prepares monthly Operations Dashboard report.
• Assists senior management in conducting analysis of Operations departmental activities such as service quality performance statistics.
• Assists management in monthly Operations variance analysis for assigned fund centers and general ledger accounts.
• Assists in preparation of monthly Operations KPI reports.
• Maintains necessary documentation and report files for analysis, compliance and audit purposes.
• Performs other special projects, financial and/or organizational studies in coordination with EVP Operations, Customer Service and HOV/HOT Lanes divisions as required.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Math, Business or a related degree is required.
Years & Experience Required
Minimum six (6) years in management/financial/operational analysis in a transit or operating environment. Experience should include the use of analytical tools, spreadsheets, Pivot tables, graphics, database packages and simulation analysis.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Proficient in data computation, technical and analytical capabilities. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, statistical, database spreadsheets and presentation software. Excellent communications (written/verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
