Basic Function

Responsibilities include planning, participating, and collaborating with IT and vendor personnel to meet project deadlines and the goals of METRO. Works with all phases of SAP enterprise applications, associated interfaces, and external data. Architects, analyzes, and models data flows, software integration, internal and external interfaces, and creates associated technical documentation. Designs and builds complex objects, files, and packages for all aspects of data conversion. Analyzes and builds tables, process/data flows, and reports for various projects. Works with all phases of SAP enterprise applications, associated interfaces, and external data. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead SAP development projects in the areas of ABAP, Fiori, Integration with SAP PI/PO, SAP BTP from conception to completion. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates complex SAP functional processes to ensure business and user needs are met.
  • Leads multiple, complex projects concurrently using in-house IT resources, business unit resources, and outside vendors and contract resources as required to meet project deadlines and the goals of METRO.
  • Design, code, test, and debug SAP ABAP programs, SAP Interfaces, Fiori code, Odata services as well as reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating complex SAP Functional processes to ensure business end user needs are met.
  • Stay updated on SAP advancements and technologies, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Prepares high-quality documentation of scope requirements and objectives in both written and graphical format.
  • Architects, models, and builds SAP interfaces with SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Architects, models, and builds SAP Fiori user interfaces (UI), SAP interface, tables, process/data flows, along with associated reporting for both desktop and mobile enabled functionality.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the evolution of SAP development practices within Metro.
  • Performs data retrievals utilizing common SAP data extraction tools.
  • Prepares and delivers timely, well-organized and informative presentations for management.
  • Leads integrated system testing efforts and troubleshoots to ensure system functions as designed.
  • Applies Project Management “best practice” skills to prioritize and deliver project objectives.
  • Assists with the development of training materials and conducts training.
  • Leads and directs the work of contractors and other developers.
  • Develop and maintain custom reports, interfaces, enhancements and forms.
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in information Technology or a related degree is preferred.

Years & Experience Required

Minimum eight (8) years of experience in SAP applications to include diagramming software, data retrieval tools, coding individual modules, techniques such as SAP Fiori, SAP ABAP, SAP Process Orchestration, SAP BTP, and functionality related to UI5 development. Experience working with complex data models and relational databases. Experience in quantifying and communicating impact of new technology to the business units. Experience in facilitating and presenting ideas and recommendations. Experience with SAP Cloud Platform Integration Suite is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Strong knowledge of project management best practices. Excellent customer service, organization, interpersonal, and communication (written/verbal) skills. Must have knowledge of working at a high technical level of all phases of SAP enterprise application activities. Must be able to manage multiple assignments and projects with competing priorities. Project Management certification preferred.
