Basic Function

Develops and delivers coaching and training for Facilities Maintenance personnel including OSHA, FTA, and other required compliance education. Coordinates with the Facilities Maintenance management to identify and target educational needs. Delivers hands-on, computer-based, and/or classroom training for all METRO locations. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Establishes, develops, and delivers in-person training for the Facilities Maintenance Division. Conducts specialized classroom instruction, supporting job related functions and related compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and review requirements of METRO’s Maintenance Department based on employee skill sets and performance trends. 
  • Develops and deploys computer-based training, using the Metro Learning Management System for Facilities Maintenance. 
  • Locates, engages, and manages third party vendors required to provide training, assessment, and/or certification content when needed.
  • Manages and keeps updated the Training Program Matrix in collaboration with Facilities Maintenance Management.
  • Manages training records using the METRO LMS. Generates requested reports.
  • Prepares progress reports, graphics, and presentations to discuss training and compliance results with Facilities Maintenance Management.
  • Coordinates training with applicable vendors when new equipment is obtained to demonstrate its use, management, and avoidable risks, keeping a “Safety First Culture” among employees.
  • Maintains physical and/or digital records (as applicable) for all Facilities Maintenance employees, including certifications, tests, and related documents, within the Metro Learning Management System.
  • Apply relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and/or forms to support training.  Support the updating and development of new policies, guidelines, and forms.
  • Proves excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
     

Education Requirement

High school diploma or GED is required. Associate degree is preferred or certification in a trade (mechanic, plumber, electrician, HVAC technician).

Years & Experience Required

Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a trainer or lead person overseeing, mentoring operating or public facilities staff and projects. Familiarization with METRO Facility Maintenance Operations or related industry, especially tasks related to Facilities Maintenance positions (examples: General Maintenance Mechanics, Utility Workers, Cleaners, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC Technician, Inspectors) required.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Ability to train large groups or one-on-one in a classroom environment.  Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with all levels of management and field employees. Knowledge of PC’s and related software; MS Office, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline 360, Absorb LMS, SAP, Power Point, Excel, Visio, Teams, and other Microsoft related applications.
