Description: 

Basic Function

Implements and facilitates the Energy Management System (EMS), HVAC controls, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ); configures, analyzes, troubleshoots, and enhances programs to balance energy management with comfort control; prepares documentation and control flow charts; monitors and adjusts computer-based EMS program for proper HVAC comfort and energy management control.  Will provide training on system operations. Assist the facilities team to conduct root cause analysis.  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. 

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Performs troubleshooting and resolves inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations. Set up and configure PC workstations and user interfaces. Confirm proper network performance. 
  • Operational Testing, Verification and Acceptance: Runs routine reports to review system operation. Technical issues will be reviewed with manager and customer to decide best course of action. Participates in final inspection and testing.
  • Supports the assurance of customer acceptance and assists with training of customers on system operations. 
  • May provide support to others with the scheduling of trade contractors to coordinate startup services as needed.
  • Completes and submits routine written reports; provides plans and control system documents to engineering for as-built drawings

  • Monitors and records values of HVAC systems to build up a database of records to provide data for energy efficiency improvement.
  • Monitors the operation of the HVAC control systems using the BMS to monitor performance. 
  • Communicates all repair and maintenance actions in writing for information to management as required.
  • Resolves any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time. 
  • Provides planned maintenance and reactive diagnosis and repairs to the HVAC control systems.
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
     

Education Requirement

High school or GED required.  Associate of Applied Science (AAS) preferred.

Years & Experience Required

Minimum of five (5) years in experience in installing and servicing electronic HVAC and control equipment Experience in commissioning, diagnosing, and repair of environmental‐control systems.
Demonstrated experience in integration of low voltage building sub-systems such as LON, BABNet, NS Modbus or related software preferred.
 

Knowledge & Skills Required

Knowledge of computer programs and software related to HVAC industry.
Utilize knowledge of electronics, direct digital controls, pneumatic controls, airflow, hydraulics, and refrigeration theory and control techniques preferred.
