Description: 

Basic Function

Professional learning experience where an undergraduate or graduate student participant gains practical work experience rotating in various divisions of Human Resources including; Staffing Initiatives and Outreach, Organizational Development, and Benefits & HRIS. Internships begin with orientation in June and conclude in early August. Position will work 32 hours per week. Specific duties vary depending on the assigned department and business need. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

•    Organizational Development
  o    Assists with coordination of OD and vendor led courses.
  o    Assists with the design of content/courses for and the administration of LMS (Learning Management System). 
  o    Assists with the coordination and/or facilitation of METRO’s intern program.
  o    Present learnings at end of program.
•    Benefits & HRIS
  o    Assists with the administration of Benefits, Wellness, Pension and HRIS programs. Review, analyze and prepare procedures/processes and make recommendations to ensure continuous improvement of all programs in the Benefits area. 
  o    Prepares reports of data results and presents findings as needed to management. 
  o    Recognizes and suggests short-term and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  o    Audits processes and documents, maintaining databases, analyzing data, ensuring data integrity, & running queries.
•    Staffing Initiatives & Outreach
  o    Will be involved in day-to-day staffing initiatives and outreach to a variety of organizations such as educational institutions (K-12 to college/university), military, minority groups, disability organizations,  etc. 
  o    Identifies and schedules meetings (in person and remote), research organizations, travel to schools and universities, and development organizational lists.
  o    Will conduct presentations on behalf of METRO. 
  o    Will attend job fairs, college job fairs and other outreach events. May include working some evenings and weekends.
•    May be introduced to other Human Resources divisions.
•    Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
•    Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
•    Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
•    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $20 hr

Education Requirement

Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or a recent graduate (within 1 year).
Degree program relative to intern assignments, such as Human Resource Development or related degree. 

 

Years & Experience Required

Currently enrolled in an accredited education institution and have successfully completed 24 credit hours. 
GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale
 

Knowledge & Skills Required

Knowledge relative to intern assignments, such as Human Resources or related degree. Knowledge of PC and related software; MS Office
