Description: 

Basic Function

Performs all cleaning, moving and general labor under the responsibility of Facility Maintenance.  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties

  • Cleans and pressure washes rail platforms and stations, shelters, park and ride platforms, Transit Center platforms and bus route stops with amenities.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of all work performed, which includes documenting on a stop-by-stop basis on a “Daily Work Log” that needs to be turned in at the end of their work shift.
  • Maintains, cleans and removes trash, graffiti, human waste and dead animals from rail platforms and stations, shelters, park and rides, Transit Centers and bus route stops.
  • Performs lawn and landscape maintenance at all park and ride, Transit Centers, rail platforms and stations, shelters, and bus route stops by cutting weeds, bushes, branches, and grass.  edge, trim and other related work as needed.
  • Cleans, washes and maintains support equipment as necessary.
  • Operates non-revenue vehicles and routinely checks department vehicles for proper levels of gas, oil, water, transmission fluid, brake fluid and tire pressure.
  • Aids Facility Maintenance General Maintenance Licensed or Journeyman Mechanics directed by Supervisor.
  • Changes flats on Facility Maintenance vehicles.
  • Performs flagging duties along METRO Rail system to ensure safe train movement.
  • Operates radio system in accordance with set radio protocols and FCC regulations, notifying Train Control Center of appropriate information regarding emergency situations and other operational situations.
  • Maintains constant communication with direct Supervisor via assigned cell phone during working hours.
  • Completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Performs duties in accordance with METRO-Rail policies, procedures and Employee Performance Code and Work Rules rulebook.
  • Immediately reports all amenities and facilities damages and hazardous conditions to immediate Supervisor.
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education Requirement

High School Diploma or GED required or must be obtained within two (2) years of hire date.

Years & Experience Required

Minimum of one (1) year stable work experience.  Work experience in general facility maintenance repair preferred.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Valid Texas Driver’s License. Good (verbal/written) communication skills. Able to complete/fill-out written reports, records and forms. Able to drive support equipment/vehicles; pick up or flat-bed trucks, tractor, sweepers, lawnmowers, etc. Able to maintain and/or obtain additional licensing or certifications as required.
