Associate Procurement Expeditor Undergraduate

Basic Function
As the Associate Expeditor will begin assignment working in a rotation of Procurement/Materials divisions. After completion of rotation will be assigned in Procurement and begin undergraduate assignment as a liaison between Maintenance Operations, Materials Management, Procurement, and Suppliers for materials and determining shortages and problem resolution. Reviews daily material shortage reports for system wide stock availability and/or supplies and accelerate deliveries. Investigate and resolve problematic delivery receipts and assist with purchasing of inventoried parts. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Initially meets and interacts with the Procurement/Materials department for an overall perspective of the divisions and processes. At the completion of the rotation, will be assigned to Manager of Procurement for job assignment.
• Under the direction of the Manager will learn to maintain accurate daily material shortage report and reviews for deficiencies and shortages and determine needs.
- Updates with system wide stock available to fulfill shortage.
- Updates with open purchase order information.
- Update with other status: open requisitions, new part status, etc.
- Distributes the updated report daily to Materials, and Procurement.

- Contact suppliers directly to obtain order status and delivery information.
- Requests improved deliveries from supplier based on urgency.
- Communicates updated delivery information with Maintenance Supervision to determine if acceptable.
- Communicates with Procurement Buyers and/or Management for additional support with suppliers.
• Assist and monitor future demand to ensure order and delivery meet the required availability.
• Updates purchase order information for expedites, de-expedites, and cancellations, to buyers to act on open orders.
• Interfaces and coordinates with Central Distribution Center receiving personnel, Buyers, and Suppliers to investigate and resolve delivery of incorrect items, over/short shipments, and past due deliveries.
• Works with QA, Tech, Supplier, and Central Distribution Center to prepare supplier returns via Return Material Authorizations (RMA.)
• Will be introduced to METRO core departments to learn basic overall knowledge of METRO.
• Perform entry level type purchasing of inventoried parts in absence of Buyer and as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in business, Procurement or Materials Management or related degree is required.
Years & Experience Required
Internships or experience in areas of materials management and expediting preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Required
General knowledge of PCs and related software to include MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of Inventory Control Systems preferred. Good communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers and external suppliers. A valid Texas Drivers’ License is required and must meet METRO’s requirements regarding motor vehicle records.
