Associate Network Support Specialist Undergraduate

Basic Function
The Associate Network Support Specialist will assist IT staff in the installation, configuration, monitoring and support of the Authority’s network infrastructure equipment. Assists with wireless site surveys and cable installations. Assists with basic support of VoIP telecommunications system and voice mail. Assists with research and troubleshooting of simple technical problems. Manages assigned work orders. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Initially meets and interacts with IT divisions for an overall perspective of the Information Technology department. After completion of the rotational program, the Associate will then join their primary IT division.
• Apply basic knowledge of network troubleshooting and equipment configuration.
• Apply basic knowledge of network diagnostic tools (ping, traceroute, etc.)
• Will be trained to conduct and perform wireless site surveys.
• Coordinate cable installations for video, voice, and data.
• Participate in the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures and documentation.
• Assist with the recommendation and scheduling of maintenance and repairs.
• Assist and interact with vendors in support of network troubleshooting & repairs.
• Participates in developing and maintaining technical documentation for all systems.
• Relies on basic instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
• Will be introduced to METRO core departments to learn basic overall knowledge of METRO.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or degree in a related field required.
Years & Experience Required
IT experience in a relevant computing environment or IT internships preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting and configuration; basic use of network diagnostic tools; experience
