Associate HR Generalist Undergraduate

Basic Function
Functions as a Human Resources Generalist working in a rotation of HR divisions including the Office of EVP/Chief Human Resources Officer. Duties will include various responsibilities with recruiting, benefits including wellness and retirement, HRIS system processes and records management, salary administration, labor relations, employee relations, EEO & ADA, organizational development, and training. After completion of the rotational program, the Associate will then join their primary HR Division. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
• Initially meets and work with all divisions of Human Resources for an overall perspective of HR processes with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Office of EVP/CHRO, budget, and unemployment claims
- Benefits overview of Benefit Services; Insurance, Leave of Absence, Wellness, and Retirement processes.
- HRIS processes including hires and job changes, deductions and payments, records management, and record retention.
- Engages with Compensation staff on general compensation processes, salary offers, job descriptions and evaluation, market, performance management, and organizational management.
- Labor Relations Job bid/awards, union pay rates and incentives, grievances, and other related processes.
- Organization Development with duties related to class presentations, specialized projects such as LDP, Intern projects, Supervisory/Management training programs.
- Employee Relations and EEO with ER issues, EEO reporting, EEO claims
• Will be introduced to METRO core departments to learn basic overall knowledge of METRO.
• Research, compiles data, evaluates trends, develops reports and makes recommendations.
• Work with special events, such as diversity programs, and benefits/wellness activities
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
• Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field is required.
Years & Experience Required
Experience or internships in Human Resources preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Basic general knowledge of HR compliance, concepts, practices, and procedures. Good communication skills (written/verbal), excellent listening skills, and strong work ethics. Interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Human Resources professional certification coursework (PHR, SHRM-CP) desirable.
